“ Was in the area (Vassar Hospital) and didn't want the cafeteria food.After a quick look online and speaking to the staff,I chose this restaurant. The food was excellent and to top it off the pumpkin fruit cake was amazing!!! Will definitely eat there again. ”

“ Great food. Best authentic Jamaican food in Poughkeepsie and this isn't up for debate. One thing I will say that's a downfall is that they run out of fried chicken pretty quick so if you don't order and pickup by 12pm, you might miss it. They also offer catering if I'm not mistaken ”

“ Sophia’s food is tasty, delicious and mouth-watering. Her fried chicken is deep fried in the fryer and is crispy and succulent and usually the best seller. Her jerk chicken and jerk pork is marinated in a spicy blend of spices which include scotch bonnet peppers with other Jamaican ingredients and is slow-cooked to perfection. Her juice blends and baked products are always pleasing to the palates. Overall whether you decide on breakfast, lunch or dinner; Sophia’s is the place to eat - You will never be disappointed as it is always flavoursome and good to the last bite. ”

“ I had a problem with my card at Sophia's Home Style Cafe, on Tuesday, December 19th. The food was already requested awaited payment. It was very humiliating. Sophia was so kind and told me to take the food and enjoy. She said I owed her nothing. When I ran in late to pay her on Wednesday night, she told me I owed her nothing, and refused to take any money. I was moved to tears. She bid me a Merry Christmas. Sophia's heart is full of pure kindness, and her food is blessed with prayers and love. Every bite fills me with light and joy. Amen ”

“ The food here is expertly seasoned to perfection & they have the best rice w/gungo peas I've tasted in a long time! I've eaten at all the other Jamaican restaurants in Poughkeepsie & none is better than this. That being said, it's not affordable enough for me to eat there regularly. I understand they can charge as much as they do because they have the ideally convenient location for staff at Vassar Bros. Hospital to grab a quick meal on their break. I don't blame them - that's business! But until I make a doctor's salary, I'll have to take my business elsewhere. ”
